Goin to Church!

I went to my first Korean Church service last Sunday. I didnt understand what was being said, but I know one thing for sure, it had something to do with Jesus. Hallelujur! :) I also forgot to take inside pictures of the church, but here is a pic of Dr. Kim and I after the service.

Halloween in Itaewon

Anna?!

idk...lol

YES

Back in the States, I usually spend Halloween weekend having hot mess fun in NYC's west village. Since I'm currently in S. Korea, I thought maybe this Halloween would be a little more low key. I was wrong! I went to Itaewon with some friends last Saturday night and had a blast.

The streets and clubs were filled with people in costumes, half of which were Westerners. My night even ended with early morning breakfast in Mcdonalds. Hot-mess, costumes, clubs, and Mcdonalds <3 Kinda felt like being home.

Gifts from my students

I love doing little art assignments with my students. It allows me to teach English ( "cut this", "fold that", etc) , while sharing my personal passion for art. Here are some art and craft gifts I recieved from my students :)

My Favorite Korean Snacks

I LOVE Korean rice cake! Especially, when its covered in delicious sweet sauce :) Dduk kochi (딱꼬치) is sweet rice cake on skewers. I usually pick this up at Emart(Korean Walmart)

Papico is a popular chocolate popsicle. I saw many Korean children with this in hand during the hot summer months. I try to keep atleast two in my freezer for a quick dessert.

Patbingsu (팥빙수) is shaved ice with redbean. Its a healthy alternative to icecream, and tastes great.

Fish shapped Korean iceream cake filled with redbean. These are the frozen versions of Bungoeppang (붕어빵), fish shaped waffles that are sold by street vendors.

Hongdae, Seoul

Hongdae is where the Hongik University is located in Seoul. It's a popular area for young artists and college students. Filled with plenty bars, clubs, and interesting people, this place keeps you entertained till the trains start running again at 5:30am the next morning!

I've been adopted!...:D

Jungsam, a student from one of my adult classes, invited me on a couple outings with his family. He was nice enough to take me to the military base where he works, museums, and amusement parks. His wife even invited me and my friend, Glenn, to dinner. The food was delicious! Thanks Kim family!

First day in Seoul

Late last month I made my first trip to Seoul. I've been back there every weekend since. It reminds me of NYC...just a lot cleaner....oh, and air conditioned subway stations with wifi access...

New place

Its been a month since I arrived in South Korea and started teaching. A lot has happened since then, but I thought I'd start with some pics of my new apartment. Not much...but its mine and I love it!
